Salsa Garden

Memorial Day weekend allowed Dave and I the opportunity to get down and dirty! In the garden that is! :) I had back to back photoshoots on Saturday morning and Dave used the time to mow the lawn. Afterwards he braved the crowds at Home Depot and came home with a salsa garden!

We laid everything out and wrote down on a piece of paper where and what everything was before we planted. This way there won't be any question as to what we are harvesting!

Red, yellow, orange, and green bell peppers, beefsteak tomatoes, onions, jalapeno peppers, habanero peppers, sweet and spicy banana peppers and an eggplant are the things I can remember off the top of my head that we planted. I am planning on trying to get a picture of the garden every week to see how it is growing.

Here is a picture of the onion plants just peeking out from the soil.

And a photo of one of the tomato plants being watered.

Dave has a huge backyard that ends at a little pond. The sun was setting by the time we got done planing and it was absolutely illuminating these huge lilac bushes. I couldn't resist taking some pictures before our beautiful Saturday was over.

Mom's Birthday Weekend

Mom and Lola came into town for Mom's birthday and we had such a fantastic time! Between outlet mall-ing, BBQ'ing, gardening, sunning, brunching and relaxing we have a very full and fun weekend! I was especially excited because my new lens came. Oh so much to learn!

Learning to play with my limited depth of field...

The birthday girl smelling her birthday flowers...hot pink roses...

Notice how little Miss Lola has on a choke collar now? Humm....must be her naughty collar!

Congrats to the Bride and Groom!

Dave and I went to his cousins wedding this past weekend in Norwood Young America (way, way, WAY far out there) and had such a great time! After the wedding most everyone headed to Harvey's in Carver to dance and drink the night away. I was sober cab (I had baby Jordan's 3 month pictures on Sunday morning and did NOT want to be hungover! Check them out on my photography blog www.finazzophotography.blogspot.com) and was glad to be as we made it home safe and sound! Here are a few pictures from the bar...the bride is in the middle of the group shot (she was SO CHANNELING Angelina's black and green at the Oscars and looked fabulous!) and I had the opportunity to meet Stunning Sara who flew in from NYC just for the wedding (and to see Mary's (Dave's sisters) play of course)! I think a trip to NYC is in order!

Washington, DC

I was in Washington, DC this past week on business and had the opportunity to see most of the historic sites while I was down there. Of all the places I have ever had the privilege of visiting I have never been to Washington, DC before so I was quite excited to see everything up close. The thought did cross my mind...maybe I would bump into Mr. President himself! Or the First Lady!? Alas, I did not see them...the closest I came to a run in with fame was when the nightly news announced that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were in town; he for a meeting with some secretary about Huricane Katrina recovery efforts and she was taping a scene from an upcoming movie...so by my best guestimate I was about 15 blocks away from my brush with fame. Oh well, next time!

Make. Go. Get. Do. Be. See.

Yes. I believe in the alternatives. I believe in herbs and teas and rubs that take what ails you away. I've been so busy lately I have forgotten about going back to the basics, focusing instead on the "quick fixes" that have quite literally gotten me nowhere.

I have quite literally "spent" myself by staying up way to late, waking up way to early, eating when I wasn't hungry and "treating" myself on too many undeserving occasions. I have felt overwhelmed and groggy, I have a cold that's decided to make my body it's permanent home and aches that have sprung up from no where.

So I am fumbling around on CNN.com today, catching up on the latest breaking stories and ran across a commentary on a blog/newsletter of sorts, that wasn't necessarily positive, and decided to check it out myself, without judgement.

The words quite literally jumped off the page, slapped me in the face and yelled "Hello!? Back to the basics! Remember me!? Herbs and teas and rubs that take what ails you away?"

Now I do have to mention one last caveat...the newsletter is written by a celebrity. I knew that before visiting the site and that's why I decided to read it "without judgement." Quite frankly, I think the newsletter is great and if this person has the means to share with me some tips, tricks and hidden jems I might not stumble across on my own then more power to her!

I hope you have the opportunity to check out this blog/newsletter and decide for yourself if you believe in the alternatives. I especially found the newsletter titled "spent" under "DO" especially informational.

Enjoy GOOP and "nourish your inner aspect."
